Take your wheel throwing skills to the next level in this focused intermediate course designed to make your own set of handmade tableware. Set in the tranquil Pencil Ceramic Studio, with sweeping views of Lion’s Head, this course offers a thoughtful deep dive into functional form.
Make your own tableware set
Over the course of 8–10 hours (split across three to four sessions), you’ll create a cohesive set of tableware:

Two coffee cups with a handles

Two bowls
-
Two dinner plates
Learn advanced pottery techniques
You’ll build on your foundational skills to explore more advanced techniques — repetition of similar shapes, refining form, working in sets, attaching handles, and learning to throw and trim larger, flatter pieces like plates. The final session will cover glazing, with tips on how to create a consistent look across your set.

Wheel experience or past attendance of the Beginners Course is required
Weekly Commitment: Classes, courses, and series require a weekly commitment for a number of consecutive weeks. Catch-ups cannot be accommodated for as too much will be missed. Please check dates carefully.
