Pottery Tableware Class

Take your wheel throwing skills to the next level in this focused intermediate course designed to make your own set of handmade tableware. Set in the tranquil Pencil Ceramic Studio, with sweeping views of Lion’s Head, this course offers a thoughtful deep dive into functional form.

Make your own tableware set

Over the course of 8–10 hours (split across three to four sessions), you’ll create a cohesive set of tableware:

  • Two coffee cups with a handles

  • Two bowls

  • Two dinner plates

Learn advanced pottery techniques

You’ll build on your foundational skills to explore more advanced techniques — repetition of similar shapes, refining form, working in sets, attaching handles, and learning to throw and trim larger, flatter pieces like plates. The final session will cover glazing, with tips on how to create a consistent look across your set.

What's included

  • A full pottery table ware set (two plates, two cups, two bowls)

  • 10hrs actively taught class

  • All materials included (clay, glaze, equipment, tools and firings).

  • Unlimited coffee and tea
